8 Day Svalbard Sailing Expedition
Description
Summary
Description
Join this unique summer adventure in the Arctic and partake in an 8-day sailing expedition from Svalbard.
Svalbard is one of the most remote places you can travel to, situated midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. During this exciting tour, you sail through some of the Arctic’s most staggering landscapes in a one of a kind high-performance sailboat.
It has yet to be fully explained by geologists how this gorgeous landmass was created. The unspoiled landscapes of Svalbard present you with not only breathtaking fjords but also offers stunning wildlife encounters and natural colors of the Arctic, producing truly unique photo opportunities.
During this expedition, you will be onboard a sailboat specifically designed for waters such those in the Arctic. The Aventura IV is a Garcia Exploration 45. The boat is an experience in itself and has been named the Ultimate Global Cruiser.
The Aventura IV was built in 2014 and is already an icon. The boat was the winner of Best Boat 2015 in Sail Magazine and Boat of the Year 2015 by Cruising World. It was bought directly from Jimmy Cornell and with present equipment, is worth around EUR 1,000,000.
Compared to larger vessels, sail ships and regular sailboats of the same size. With a draft of just one meter, you get to experience everything for up close from the boat.
The boat also offers better comfort than most sailboats same size and the cabin is easily accessible from the cockpit. A 75 mm thick foam insulation brings temperature stability and a strong aluminum hull makes this boat safer compared to fiberglass boats.
You will travel over 8 days and 7 nights. Operating on a fixed itinerary in the seas around Svalbard is next to impossible. You will have a schedule but we will have to remain flexible. On any given day, we will have to adapt to the conditions and the unpredictability of the surroundings. You get to participate and become part of the operation.
You will experience on-land adventures as well, as we touch shore and embrace the surroundings. There will be glaciers, birds, wild animals, old settlements, research stations and more for you to discover.
Your tour will be ecologically sustainable and responsible. By traveling in a small group, you will have less impact on nature and its wildlife.
Jump on board and join us for this truly unparalleled adventure across the Arctic waters of Svalbard and inquire about availability and custom options. No other Arctic tourist boat we know can offer this!
