Oslo is the Capital of Norway. It lies at the bottom Oslofjord. The city is also the cultural centre of Norway, housing the Munk Museum, Vigeland Sculpture Park, the National Museum and the iconic Oslo Opera House.
The city was founded in 1070 and became the capital of Norway around the year 1300. Oslo has a population of close to seven hundred thousand inhabitants and covers an area of about 500 square kilometres.
The main neighbourhoods in Oslo are Old Oslo, Frogner, Grünerløkka and Aker. The Bygdøy peninsula is a popular tourist attraction in Oslo, being home to a number of museums and the Royal Farm.
