Birthday party
My friend had his birthday 4th May, and what a better way to celebrate, then to skiing? So off we went, just an hour from my hometown, Mo i Rana, by car, to Aldersundet in Lurøy municipality.
We parked at Vassvatnet in Lurøy, and got the skins on our skis, and off we went. After 20 minutes of steep walking, you will come to this plateau, where the Strandtindan-massive opens. The mountains here are huge so it´s important to choose the days with caution.
After a little break we started on our last ascent before the top! We had been checking out this amazing colouir from the plateau, but when we arrived there, it could not be done. We would have to need ropes and crampons. Well oh well, next time!
Here is a link where you can see where to go (link in norwegian): http://ut.no/tur/2.1834/
The descent was awesome, the weather, the snow and the company was awesome.
What a day, and what a birthday party!
In May there is still really good skiing left here in Nordland, especially here in Helgelad-area:) Other great skiing-trips I would recommend is: Okstindan, Ørtfjellet, Høgtua, Østerdalsknabben, Sjonfjellet, Tomma, Breitinden and Strandtindan. All trips only (max) an hours drive from Mo i Rana. Will surely write some blogs about some of these above. Enjoy the spring, with your skis on:D
