Their homeland extends from the middle of Norway to north-western Russia, including northern Sweden and northern Finland. All your guides are authentic Sami guides that come from reindeer herding families. They will let you know how they combine traditional lifestyle into the modern world. The reindeer herders symbolize the culture and are dependent on vast areas of wilderness. Up until today, Sami people still living in a nomadic lifestyle, following the reindeer migrations from the plains to the coast. Don't get scared by our giant friends; these reindeer are calm and shy. They may sometimes stop, and you have to wait till they are ready to continue, so the speeds can vary as the reindeer decides; usually, it stays moderate. The sledding is not a tourism industry innovation, but an ancient Sami way of getting around. Your Sami guide will educate you about how they take care of them and the way they can use the reindeer for handicrafts, clothes, and of course, food for everyone. After going sledding, you'll be served a traditional Sami meal and told stories about the Sami culture.
