Fjord Cruise & Pulpit Rock Hike | Combo Tour

Join this combo tour for a chance to get up close and personal with authentic Norwegian nature, where you will hop on a fjord cruise before strapping on your hiking boots and venturing up Pulpit Rock. Anybody looking to experience the full extent of Norway’s scenery should not let this opportunity pass them by. Setting out from Skagenkaien in Stavanger City, your excursion begins with an exploration of the one and only Lysefjord onboard a cruise boat. The fjord is special in many ways; it gets its name - ‘Light Fjord’ - because of the light-coloured granite rocks that line its mountainsides. As you venture in between the steeping mountains, you will pass uninhabited and idyllic islands surrounded by sapphire-coloured water, wooden houses nesting in the hillsides, acrobatic mountain goats, and numerous misty waterfalls plummeting down the cliffs. You will visit the Vagabond’s Cave in the heart of the fjord, where a group of outlaws allegedly hid from the authorities in days long gone. As you trail beyond this enigmatic and ancient hiding place, you will be greeted by the appearance of the monumental Pulpit Rock towering over the skyline. Looking up at the near perfectly vertical drop of this steepest of cliffs, any adventurer would be desirous to venture up for a chance of enjoying the view from above. And that is exactly what is on the agenda, as you will conclude your boat cruise at the village of Oanes and get ready for the second half of your adventure. A bus will take you from Oanes to the trailhead of Pulpit Rock at Preikestolhytta, where you will stock up on food and water before starting your ascent. The hike up Pulpit Rock has become increasingly popular with travellers from all over in the last years, but the trail is still moderately challenging and will take about two hours each way. After reaching the top, however, all the effort will be worth it, as you might as well be standing at the top of the world where you look down over the fjord you just cruised through. The photo opportunities from the top are to die for, and those brave enough can venture right to the edge of the cliff to look straight down the 600-metre drop. Once you have descended back down, a bus will take you back to the port of Tau to catch the ferry back to Stavanger. Don’t delay in booking this extraordinary tour for the chance of the combined wonders of a fjord safari and a view from the summit of Pulpit Rock. Check availability by choosing a date.

Explore Norway's incredible landscape and breathe in the fresh mountain air with the Kjerag Autumn Guided Hiking Tour with Views of the Lysefjord. This autumn adventure will take you to places that many people will never visit and allow you to glimpse sites that many will never see. Since this hike consists of steep inclines and other mountainous terrains along its 11 km length, it has been rated as more difficult. It means only adults in very good condition, who have extensive hiking experience, should sign up for this particular adventure. Your group will navigate over a mountain pass as you make your way through Sirdal and then across a baron, glacier-scoured landscape that looks like it belongs in another world. Once you reach the trail-head known as the Eagle's Nest, your seasoned guide will adjust the equipment you'll be using, such as ice spikes, to match the often unstable autumn weather conditions. From there, you will be led on a 2.5-hour hike, experiencing beautiful views of my Lysebotn village and encounter three separate areas with steep terrain. Then, over the last two kilometers, you'll be able to take it easy on the relatively flat terrain leading up to the Kjerag boulder. This rigorous trek will reward you with panoramic views of Lysefjord from the edge of the mountain's plateau. If you're a bit of a daredevil, you'll have the opportunity to stand atop Kjerag's boulder. Then, once you've eaten lunch, your guide will take you back to the Eagle's Nest and then drive you through 26 hairpin turns along the only road to the Lysebotn village. Once there, you will climb aboard a speed ferry for your return to civilization, during which you’ll pass the Preikestolen cliff, waterfalls, and abandoned farms.  This guided hiking tour is a rigorous, breathtaking journey lasting from September 1st through November 17th.

The drive lasts for approximately 2.5 hours and will consist of cinematic landscapes with gorgeous mountains, fjords, and green valleys.
