Soaking in the gorgeous landscape and forgetting all of your worries. You will hear anyone who has visited the Preikestolen area during the winter and spring seasons tells you it's a gorgeous destination that allows you to do that. The Preikestolen Winter-Spring Guided Hike and Lysefjord Cruise enable you to experience a two-part, epic adventure that you will never forget.

Taking place between January 2nd and April 30th, this combination cruise and hike has been rated a difficulty level of moderate, meaning that participants should be in the relatively good physical condition and possess previous hiking experience. Items that you need to bring, some of which can be rented, are a pair of dependable hiking boots, water-resistant pants, a fleece or woolen sweater, a couple of warm socks, warm gloves and hat, a rainproof jacket, a small backpack, and a packed lunch along with a few small snacks and healthy beverage.

This epic adventure begins in Stavanger, where your professional tour guide will pick you up in the early afternoon for a two-hour cruise into the Lysefjord. You will be given a unique perspective of the area, including the gorgeous fjords, islands, and mountains that surround you. You'll venture through the Lysefjord and even beneath a suspension bridge, and then feast your eyes on towering mountains that seem to reach toward the heavens. From there, it's a visit to Vagabond's cove to learn the history of this amazing natural landmark.

Once you've arrived at the shore of the Lysefjord, the 2.5-3.5 hour hiking portion of this fantastic journey will begin. You will be taken through forests and marshlands as you make your way to the mountain's plateau. Depending on when you plan your trip, you are very likely to see varying amounts of snow on the ground and mountaintops, and equipment including ice spikes will be provided if that occurs.

Along the way, you will be given numerous opportunities to rest and take photos of this breathtaking landscape. After reaching the cliff overlooking both Preikestolen and the Lysefjord, you'll enjoy a well-deserved break and quick snack before heading back. Your guide will lead you along a secondary route where you will be traveling toward the sunset. And when darkness falls, a headlamp will ensure your safety the rest of the way.

Reserving your spot for the Preikestolen Winter-Spring Hike and Lysefjord Cruise Tour is an easy process. Check availability and book your trip early.

Good to know

Due to the possibility of rapidly-changing weather conditions, it may be necessary to make changes to scheduled trips. If your trip needs to be rescheduled for another day or canceled on short notice, you may choose between joining the rescheduled trip or getting a refund. If weather conditions deteriorate during your trip, it may be necessary to turn around on the trail or head back earlier than planned. If this happens, no refunds will be given.

NOTE: We cannot guarantee that the sunset will be visible during all hikes.

As with all outdoor activities, the weather is not something humans can control. Based on our experiences with past guests, we don’t cancel our tours in advance because of grey skies, light rain, or fog. Guests have a wide range of expectations, but it is our experience that most would instead go through with their hike, regardless of the weather conditions. Hiking under blue skies is beautiful, but there is also beauty in hiking through clouds, fog, and light rain. Some of the most spectacular sunsets have resulted from such conditions
